DIY Activity Binder

I have been working hard on this DIY and I cannot wait to share it with you all!  As most of you know that I have been homeschooling my daughter and it has been fun.  Although, it can be taxing when she shows that she is getting bored or that she thinks doing another activity sounds a lot more fun.  With that in mind, I decided to do my own activity binder for my daughter so that way she can focus, and it will be fun for her to do.  It turned out to be quite fun to make and she LOVES it!

Want to know my secret to this??  My secret was to take a step back, figure out what she thinks is fun or what she wants to do, then coordinate on what I should do.  For example, when my daughter didn’t want to do her lesson, I took a step back and found out that she wanted to do puzzles more.  So, I re-evaluated how I did things and made some fun lesson games with puzzles.  When it comes to homeschooling, it really is a give or take experiment.  Some days, it will be a piece of cake, then the other days, it will be like pulling teeth just to get her to do anything.  That is why I decided to make a binder where it will consist of everything that she likes, but it will turn into a lesson.

Now on to the binder, so the first thing you want to do is to get your resources and print out everything.  I got my resources on Pinterest and TeachersPayTeachers.  I printed out the things that my daughter likes now such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, dinosaurs, colors, numbers, letters, shapes, etc.  The whole nine yards!  After I downloaded everything, I printed everything out.  I also printed double of everything that I am using to match such as numbers, storyline, colors, etc.

The second thing you would want to do is to make sure you have everything to make the binder.  I used a Scotch Laminator (I purchased it on Amazon), the laminator sheets (also Amazon), Velcro Dots (I purchased these at Wal-Mart), a binder (I got this at the Dollar Tree), a hole punch (Dollar Tree), and scissors.  Then, you will need to start laminating everything that you printed out.  This is a little time consuming, but this is the only way that you can use the Velcro dots without any damage.  Plus, any child can write all over these sheets and it can wipe off easily.  (I mean that is always fantastic, am I right??)

Once you get done laminating everything, the other time consuming/tasking part begins, which is cutting everything out.  If you printed out in doubles for the matching, make sure to keep one part uncut since you will be using it for matching.  After you cut everything out, again, now the fun part begins, which is hole punching, putting the Velcro dots on, and putting them in the binder.

Putting the Velcro dots on are so easy and fun because all that you need to do is take the backing off and put one on each piece.  To do that, all you need to do is to put one dot on the full sheet, then one on the cut-out version.  Simple and easy.  Finally, either write or make a pretty sheet to go in front of the binder and you have an activity binder!  Again, this is so easy and fun to make.  If you have any questions or need me to clarify anything, then please do not hesitate to ask me in the comments below or e-mail me!  I hope you had an enjoyable time reading this and if you do make an activity binder, I would love to see your pictures so make sure to tag me at #nerdmomwithablog!  I will see you in the next post!
