Korean Bulgogi

For this recipe post, I will be doing one of my favorites, which is Bulgogi.  Bulgogi is a Korean food that is made up of flank steak, sauce, and carrots.  It really is delicious.  My parents got this from their dear friends and it has been passed down.  Even my family loves this dish.  I will share two different versions and I have found that both have worked.  You can do this dish in either a wok or a crockpot.

First, you need to get the marinade together.  The marinade consists of Sempio Bulgogi Marinade, 1 bag of shredded carrots, 1 chopped onion, and a dash of Soy Sauce and Sesame Oil.  You put the marinade in a Ziploc bag and shake it up good, then put the meat in. For the meat, you get the flank steak and cut it into thin slices, then put in the bag with the marinade.  Usually, I let it marinade overnight or put the bag in the freezer, but if you are in a bind, then let it marinade at least an hour or two.

Once it gets done marinating, you can do it two ways: wok or crockpot.  If you are cooking it in a wok, heat the wok on medium heat.  Once it gets heated up, then pour the meat and sauce in.  You are going to fry up the meat until the meat is cooked, which will take about 20 minutes or so.

If you are cooking it in a crockpot, you will pour the meat and sauce in the crockpot.  Put the crockpot on HIGH for 3 hours.  I promise you that either way this dish tastes the same.  So, there you have it.  Oh, and make a bowl of rice to have with the Bulgogi.  I always use the Boil-in-the-Bag Rice, but that is a staple.  Finally, serve it up.  I will be putting the recipe down below, so if you have any questions, then feel free to ask me in the comment section below.  I hope you enjoy your Friday and your weekend!  I will see you in the next post!

Ingredients:

1 lb. Flank Steak, sliced thin

1 small bag of Shredded Carrots

1 small Onion chopped

1 bottle of Sempio Bulgogi Marinade

A dash or Two of Soy Sauce and Sesame Oil

Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Make the Marinade. In a bag, mix together the Bulgogi Marinade, chopped Onion, Shredded Carrots, Soy Sauce, and Sesame Oil.  Then, put in the meat and let it marinade overnight or freeze it for later use.
  2. If using a wok to cook, then heat the wok on medium heat. Once it is heated, pour the meat along with the sauce and cook it until the meat is cooked, roughly about 20 minutes or so.
  3. If using a crockpot, then pour the meat along with the sauce (the whole bag) into the crockpot, close the lid, and turn the crockpot on HIGH for 3-4 hours. I let mine cook for 3 hours and it came out just like how it would in a wok.
  4. Serve with or in a bowl of rice. There you have, Korean Bulgogi!
